I was born in Kingston, Jamaica. At a very young age, moved to the US.
I lived in Miami & then moved to New Jersey. After finishing High School,
I joined the US Navy & was stationed in Norfolk, Va.
Served four years with a Honorable discharge. After leaving the military, I stayed in Virginia for a few more years. Then moving back to Miami, Florida. During this time, REGGAE Music was becoming more available from Jamaica, New York & Miami.
I have always been interested in being a DJ, mixing Reggae Music.
After checking out "The King" Waggy T - Live, a few times & listening to him on WLRN FM.
I started to become more interested in becoming a DJ.
While living in Miami, Florida for a few years. I received a very good job offer in Dallas, Texas.
After moving to Dallas, I quickly found out that the Reggae Music, I was accustom to in Miami,
was not available here. No Reggae on the Radio & No Reggae Clubs to go to.
A few months later, I met Mikey Squints of Black One Sound. He invited me to a dance, Black One & Hardcore Sound was having, It was like being back in Miami, again.
Finally, deciding to become a DJ. I knew, I could & would be a good DJ.
Especially, for my Love of Reggae Music & to help promote Reggae Music, on a bigger scene, here in Dallas. Upon investing some money, I bought my DJ equipment.
I started practicing my mixing Day & Night. Also, keeping up with the latest tunes & listening to the Big Sound's like - Stone Love & Metro Media, etc & old cassette recordings.
I then, started making mixed CD's, to promote myself.
My DJ name was born Selekta Ian, which stands for selecting the music, while talking on the mic & hyping the crowd. My sound name became Digital Vibez, which also mean, I only played cd's.
I then, received an opportunity to start playing at the Caribbean Grill in 1999. After learning how to move. watch & play for the crowd. I was able to build a crowd, with my style of playing Reggae, Soca & Hip Hop Music. I then started playing at Palm Beach Reggae Club on Saturday Nights in 2001. Then, other clubs, weddings & parties.
With Now, over Ten Years + in the business, Digital Vibez, is always trying to bring good Reggae Vibez to Dallas & anywhere else, I will play that LOVE'S Reggae Music, zeen.
Digital Vibez specialize mainly in Reggae Music. But, as a DJ, I also play Soca, RnB & Hip Hop.
