Born in Kingston, Jamaica. Lived all over the Kingston & St. Andrews Area.
From Harbor View to Downtown - Oxford Street. At a very young age, moved to the US
& Lived in Miami for a few years, then moved to New Jersey. After finishing High School,
Joined the US Navy - I was stationed in Norfolk, Va. & After four years of the Military decided
to come back to the civilian life. I stayed in Norfolk, Va. for a few years, then moved back to Miami, Fla.
I became more interested about mixing Reggae Music, after checking out
"The King" Waggy T - Live, a few times & listening to him on WLRN FM.
The Reggae Club's at that time was Stinger's on Friday night with Gary & The Enforcement
& Cameo in South Beach on Saturday night with Waggy T.
While living in Miramar, Florida. I received a very good job offer in Dallas, Texas.
After moving to Dallas, I quickly found out that the Reggae Music, I became accustom to,
was not available here. No Reggae on the radio & No Real Reggae Clubs to go to. There were
a few Sounds in Dallas. But, They were not really doing any events.
Dallas Sounds are Black One, Hardcore, Serious & Jah Youth.
But, Dem Caan MIX Di Tunes, like how I man know dem fi juggle.
No New Tunes were being played. The same old tunes every week,
that became my drive to change the Reggae Scene in Dallas.
Deciding to become a DJ, I knew, I could do a better job. Especially, for the Love of Reggae Music & to help promote Reggae Music, on a bigger scene. No Club had a good Reggae DJ that could move & hold the crowd, much less Mix the tunes, properly. Upon investing some money, I bought my DJ equipment. I started practicing my mixing Day & Night, Plus, keeping up with the latest tunes & Listening to Big Sound's like - Stone Love, Metro Media & More. Plus, making mixed CD's, to promote myself & my sound.
I then, received an opportunity to start playing at the Caribbean Grill. After, NUFF time & effort,
I was able to build a crowd. They responded to my style of playing Reggae, Soca & Hip Hop music. Finally, I had built a name for myself, Selekta Ian. I then, built my sound Digital Vibez,
which is a Juggling Sound. I then started playing at Palm Beach Reggae Club on Saturday Nights.
With Now, over Seven Years + in the business, Digital Vibez, is only trying to bring some good reggae vibes to Dallas, Texas. We know how to hold a crowd & build a Vibez, when we play.
To all Reggae DJ's in Dallas, Stop the Bad Minded & Envious Feelings & Let Us, Unite.
Reggae is Love, Peace & Unity, God Bless - Selekta Ian.
